We’ll get some details from you here first and then you will have to download a few extra forms and then send them back to us.
Dream Au Pair will review your application and ensure we have everything we need. We will also arrange a skype interview with you.
You are now in matching! Our Placement Team will be working hard to find the right family for you. Host Families will receive your Profile and will then be in touch to set up skype interviews. Click here for skype interview tips.
Once a Host Family extends an offer to you, you will have the chance to accept. Congratulations! You’re on your way to becoming a Dream Au Pair!
We will send you an Invoice for the Au Pair Placement fee. This must be paid in full before your arrival in New Zealand.
You will need to organise and pay for your Work and Holiday Visa for New Zealand.
You will need to arrange your flights to coincide with Orientation. Your Placement Coordinator can help you. We can also help with getting you the right insurance for your trip.
Before you meet your Host Family you will transfer from Auckland Airport to a Hotel where you’ll have a 2-day Orientation. You’ll learn about the programme in-depth, recover from jet-lag and meet other Au Pairs who are also starting their Dream Au Pair journey.
Once you’ve completed Orientation, you’re ready to join your host family! They will either pick you up from the Hotel or will have already arranged further transport for you should they live out of Auckland.
Te Whāriki – Our Education programme
Dream Au Pair is licensed with the Ministry of Education to provide a home-based education programme to preschool children – our Dream Education Programme. It is run by our qualified Visiting Teachers and is based on Te Whāriki.
Te Whāriki is the New Zealand Ministry of Education’s framework for providing tamariki (children's) early learning and development within a sociocultural context. It emphasizes the learning partnership between kaiako (teachers), parents, and whānau/families. Kaiako (teachers) weave a holistic curriculum in response to tamariki (children's) learning and development in the early childhood setting and the wider context of the child's world (MoE 1996).
If you’re interested in a career in Early Childhood Education then come to New Zealand, work closely with a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and return home with documentation from the New Zealand Ministry of Education stating you have taught children in accordance with the New Zealand curriculum.
