Depending on where you live, Dream Au Pair offers four Au Pair programmes, catering for children from babies to teenagers:

The Dream Education Programme is our Early Childhood Education (ECE) programme for families with pre-school children living in our Ministry of Education Licensed Regions of Auckland and Wellington.

The Au Pair Buddy Programme is for families with school-aged children nationwide or preschoolers living outside of Auckland and Wellington. Read more below.

If you have your own Au Pair and would like us to support you and your Au Pair we offer Dream Au Pair Private Support or Payroll Only options. This way you can still host a private Au Pair and still get all the benefits of ECE funding, support, payroll and more.

Au Pair Dream Education

Children learn best when they are enjoying themselves in a comfortable and familiar environment. One of the fundamental advantages of having an Au Pair is that you child is not constrained by the routines of a day care. In a centre environment your child must fit in with the routines of the centre, whereas an Au Pair will tailor every day around the individual needs of your child.

Our Dream Education Programme is guided by Te Whaariki, the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, and is fully funded by the Ministry of Education. This programme encourages pre-schoolers to learn through play with their Au Pair in their own home. Click here to read the Curriculum in full.

Au Pair Buddy Programme

Au Pair Buddy is for families with only school aged children nationwide, or for families who live outside of Auckland and Wellington. An Au Pair Buddy is much like a big brother or sister. They can take care of the children before and after school, attend extracurricular activities together and help with homework and housework.

Unlike the Dream Education Programme, Au Pair Buddy does not include a structured educational element, but it still provides a wonderful opportunity for children to learn as Au Pairs love to share their cultural, musical, arts or sporting interests with the children.

Good to know:

If you have at least one preschool child and live within one of our licensed regions you must enrol in the Au Pair Dream Education Programme. When your last child turns 5, you will be automatically transferred from our Dream Education Programme to our Buddy Programme. Any questions? Feel free to talk to your Placement Consultants.
